Wow, now that is a dusty jam. I can't believe you still have that! (Said the girl who has a copy in her own desk drawer).

I just hope they don't trot this out for our episode of "This is Your Life." Mostly because that would mean we'd somehow traveled back in time to the days when "This is Your Life" was on TV, and Mr. Peabody wouldn't approve of us wasting a trip in the Wayback Machine for something so self-indulgent.

Claires last blog post..<a href="http://labarceloneta.wordpress.com/2008/07/11/primer-palooza-closes-tonight/" rel="nofollow">Primer-palooza closes tonight!</a>

What a nice look back at Meijer. :)
I remember the Attitude only from what Claire and you have said about it, but I don't recall actually reading it (until now). It was written in 1995 and at that point I only worked at Meijer during summer and Christmas breaks.

Creative. Outspoken. I think I remember how that feels!

My current job is void of all things creative. Keep it simple, precise, accurate and efficient. Balance sensitivity with specificity.....mix in a standard operating procedure (NO adjectives allowed) along with low overall cost and adequate reimbursement and you've just created a perfect lab test. Now you have to validate and correlate.
Seriously, I like the job. Spreadsheets and calculations. Fun. Very nerdy.
But.....I find myself reaching out for creative outlets at work. So I also fill my time with chairing a wellness committee, running Lab Week festivities, and serving as a corporate sponsor for American Heart Association. I can break away from Excel and have at it.
As I see it now, the Attitude (however brief it's existence) encouraged people to look at things from a different perspective. It mixed things up. In the "Oh yeah!" I'm busting through the wall like the big Kool-Aid guy. It encourages the rest of us lab nerds to abandon our clipboards and ignore the fact that we can't spell check our comments to your blog.
