Gotta Love the Internet
Just a quick one today, but something I just had to share. Not to get political or anything, but this was just too funny to ignore.
For the record, I don’t like either candidate all that much. I do believe that Obama deserves a chance though, and McCain an Palin are most definitely the wrong choice for this election. I haven’t yet decided whether I’ll vote or not.
I somehow didn’t find it that funny. Since you’re a Utah voter now, it doesn’t matter if you vote or not (and if you haven’t registered yet, it’s too late anyway).
If you were still living in Ohio, however, a swing-state, then OF COURSE you should vote, cause your vote would actually count! Not many of us can say that.

Not everyone will find this funny. It’s definitely gonna be more for my generation. I grew up being called “Richie” by people, so I have a connection. To his credit, Ron Howard publicly apologized to all redheads on Letterman a few years back, so he’s earned my respect.
As far as voting, yeah… it’s pointless in Utah because they vote party here and not issues or candidates. I swear they’d vote for Charles Manson if there as an (R) next to his name on a ballot. It’s frustrating. Still, I hope to be able to do my part in evicting that Huntsman dumbass at any rate, and there are a couple of issues (like the zoo thing) that deserve attention.
It’s true, you can make a difference on the local scene, particularly in Salt Lake where the dems tend to have majority.
But even the Republican vote in Utah doesn’t matter on the presidential scale, because this state is always going to go red. Might as well nobody vote for all the difference it makes. That’s why this whole electoral college thing needs to be done away with. It’s pointless in this day and age where we actually do have the ability to count every vote and make every vote count.

Utah, on top of always voting Republican, has so few electoral votes that it doesn’t matter at all which way Utah goes.
Even if by some miracle Utah ended up voting for Obama, it would amount to almost nothing.
Now, on the local level, Utah still votes (R) about 70% of the time. There are a few Dems sneaking through. I’m a big fan of Jim Matheson. He’s done a great job for those of us he represents.
The real problem is that I still don’t know who to vote for.
Trovans last blog post..My poor wife…
I stumbled across this last night and had a good laugh at it. Ron Howard rules.
My views follow those of Trovan VERY closely (hmm I wonder why?!?). My mother-in-law was trying to convince us (Ben and I) and tell us why the electoral voting was more important. Something about how some states would have more say than others if each vote were to really count. My response to that was, “That is already the case”. She tried to change my view, but I still think that each vote should count equally NO MATTER the state you live in.
