It’s Hot

By sovknight | June 25, 2008

hot

As those of you here in Utah may have noticed, it’s really hot.  A little too hot if you ask me, but then again we do live in the desert.  At least we’re not in the Midwest or southern states, where 99 degrees equals many hundreds when you factor in humidity.  I’ll take our lovely 7% any day over that.

I don’t miss humidity at all.  Not one bit, I tell you.

Don’t worry, it’s going to getter even hotter. We haven’t even broken 100 yet. But humidity really does make things more unbearable. In 2005 on my cross-country trip at the end of August, I thought I was the hottest I had ever been in NYC. Then I went to DC and found out that I was wrong, DC was the hottest I had ever been.

    I love cool humidity, though.

Amen to dry heat. While I was in Texas, I couldn’t stand outside for two minutes without breaking a sweat. I. hate. humidity.

To be fair, while “dry heat” is infinitely preferable to “wet heat” (although the latter certainly makes a superior Cinemax movie title), a BLOW TORCH is also “dry heat,” and you don’t see anyone lining up for that.

Well, outside of Burning Man or similar music festivals, that is. “No, dude, the blackened flesh is a symbol for burning away our oppressive musical past! Now take me to the burn ward!”

Also, I am in the Miami Valley, where it is also hot (OK, 85), and scientists, using incredibly delicate instruments have determined that the humidity is currently ONE MILLION-BILLION PERCENT.

I went swimming yesterday, and I don’t have a pool! Bada-boom! Thank you very much, I’ll be here all week…don’t forget to tip your waitress, and please - try the lamb.

I think I’ll spend the rest of the day in my A/C and let other people get swamp ass….

I have been pulling out a swimming pool EVERY day for the kids to swim in cause it is just plain too hot! I dread late July/August heat! That is when it gets to the 100-110 range - UGH!
