un Coke y Una Sonrisa

One slight detour in my diet, but a delicious one.  Calorie-wise, I was able to work it into my diet today, so I don’t feel too bad about it, plus it was a one-time thing, but last night I was introduced to the absolute yum of Mexican Coca Cola.

cokeIf you can’t get it where you are, let’s just say you’re missing out.  Coke De Mexico is the exact same Coke you get anywhere, except it’s imported from Mexico, and it contains real honest-to-God sugar instead of whatever that stuff is that we use here in the states.  Believe me, it makes a difference.  I’m not sure exactly how, but it just tastes better.  It really took me back to when I was a kid and artificial sweeteners hadn’t been invented yet.  My Mexican Coke was cold and sweet and utterly delicious.  A real treat.

Thank you Sra, for introducing me.  Oh, and by the way, guess what I found in a drawer in my kitchen?

Ok then, back to the diet.  21 more pounds and nine more inches of belly fat to go.

Oh good, then I don’t have to give you one of my five bottle openers. I’m glad the Coke proved as delicious as I promised. Mine is still waiting for me in my fridge, but I have to make sure I take a picture of its incredible fullness-level before imbibing.

P.S. I forgot that I might be camping next weekend, and if that’s the case, we can’t do the parkway ride again next Sunday, but I’ll let you know, cause the camping might fall through. If we can’t do it next weekend, we’ll shoot for the one thereafter.

Oh, crap, the Anglos found out about our Coke! I was okay when it was just the foodies and the niche beverageers, but if you’re gonna just put it out there for public consumption, I’m going to have to send out my trained hench-hamsters to stockpile as much as possible in my underground lair.

Take a lime, wedge it, and squeeze it into your glass of Mexicoke. This was the Coke of my childhood visits to my grandmother, and it will be my coke until Kingdom Come.

Oh, and those of you far from Mexico and without easy access to relatives willing to ship it to you, why not grab some Kosher Coke during Passover? <a href=”http://www.nypost.com/seven/03192007/news/regionalnews/kosher__coke_a_big_hit_regionalnews_rita_delfiner.htm” Delicious Kosher Coke

Is there a place to buy this SuperCoke in the SLC area? Reams, probably…

We got ours as Smith’s. I’m sure the other markets probably carry it as well.

  5. Sra says:

You can get them at Smith’s, yes. Look for the 12 oz. glass bottles — those are the ones. You can also get them at the farmer’s market at Pioneer Park on Saturday mornings from Mexi-food venders.

I know you’re going to think I’m crazy (well probably not the first time that thought has crossed your mind)
    but…..here goes:
I really love Diet Coke. Artifical sweetners and all. I can’t get enough of the stuff. I quit it cold turkey for a year. That was a long ass year. Kinda worked it’s evil way back into my life though. Weekends and eating out. Cheers!
